Custom or off-the-shelf?

Not everyone needs a custom device. Where a well-fitted prefabricated brace will do the job, we will tell you. Custom orthoses are made from a 3D scan or a cast when you need a closer fit, more control, or something you will wear every day for years.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see an orthotist?+
No. You can contact us directly. Some funders need a referral or approval first, and for bracing after surgery we work from your surgeon’s instructions.
What is the difference between an orthotist and a podiatrist?+
Orthotists assess for and make orthoses for the whole body, including AFOs, knee braces and spinal braces. Podiatrists focus on the foot and lower leg and also provide foot orthoses. For bracing above the foot, an orthotist is usually the right person.
Does private health insurance cover orthotics?+
Some extras policies pay a partial rebate on orthotic devices. It depends on your fund and level of cover, so check with your insurer. We give you an itemised quote to help.
